Frances Titus dies at 80 in Peoria after long life
Mrs Frances Titus aged eighty passed away August eighth at her son in law’s home in Peoria Illinois. She married William Titus in 1866 and had five children, the husband and three children predeceased her. Surviving are son William Titus of Paduka Sr daughter Mrs Barbara Chestnut west of town eight grandchildren three great grandchildren one brother Nathan Burkett a sister in law Mrs Jane Haynes of Mt Vernon and half sister Anna Franklin of Eaglesville. Funeral held Friday at Eaglesville with Rev E Roberts. Burial in Eaglesville Cemetery.

White Band WHL to Play Vin-cennes on Aug 27
The Great White Band, a consolidation of Southern Indiana bands, will perform its first concert of the season at Lakewood Park in Vincennes on Sunday August 27. Directors include Professor W S Coffey of Spencer. The group comprises about thirteen bands and over two hundred musicians from Bedford Bloomington Gosport Cloverdale Spencer Worthington Clay City Patricksburg Bowling Green Jasonville Bloomfield Linton and Odon. Old Settlers Meeting Opens With Large Opening Day Attendance
The 31st annual Old Settlers Meeting opened with a strong crowd on the first day. Officials expect the heaviest attendance today and tomorrow as attractions including a merry go round a revolving ladder and music by the Linton Band draw visitors. Miss Ruby Drake is a top draw. Lorenzo West twenty six year old rubber worker from Akron Ohio was held for the October federal grand jury after a preliminary examination on a charge of sending offensive matter through the mails. He was committed to Montgomery county jail in Dayton in default of $3000 bond. The letters and post cards were directed to his aunt in Odon Indiana.
