Illness Leads to Emergency Operation in Benton Harbor
While visiting relatives in Benton Harbor Michigan Mrs R D Arford fell ill and required an operation at Mercy Hospital. She was taken to the hospital last Friday and is convalescing rapidly with plans to return home in a few weeks as her husband and children have returned home.

Odon Picnic Draws Big Crowds Over Three Days
Large crowds filled Odon park for three day picnic with peak attendance Friday afternoon. Sheriff reserves aided by two Linton police and one Terre Haute officer kept order as Boy Scouts assisted. Hon. James Goodrich spoke Saturday with Ezra Mattingly and Judge Jyden also addressing attendees. Agricultural displays were satisfactory though smaller than usual. ladies relics and cooking exhibits drew steady interest. Next year’s dates not yet set.
