Van Buren farmer Ira Evans found dead near home
Ira Evans a 63 year old farmer of Van Buren Township was found dead Sunday evening by his granddaughters in a shallow branch near the house. Coroner Poindexter ruled cerebral hemorrhage after noting no drowning. Evans had suffered two strokes and was a longtime resident, active in the United Brethren Church. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the United Brethren Church in Raglesville with Rev. McWilliams presiding. Burial followed in Raglesville Cemetery.

Library Board Receives Readership Boost and Encyclopedia Addition
The library board met for its monthly session to address month end business. The librarian reported excellent conditions and more books read despite hot weather. The library added the latest Britannica edition and will maintain as a traveling art library with monthly picture displays for the coming year.

Farmer Suffers Severe Eye Injury in Barn Accident
Paris Hastings of three miles west of Odon sustained a deep eye wound Friday evening when a splinter from a breaking board pierced his eye. He was treated by Dr. Ira Bowman and rushed to Knapp Sanitarium Vinennes where Dr. Knapp removed iris tissue and part of the lens. The eye is expected to be nearly blind.

Breaks Arm Of Local Boy In Play
Robert Breden six year old son of Mr and Mrs Walter Breden of North Spring Street broke his arm Friday evening while playing with friends on the lawn in front of the U B church. He was thrown to the ground during the tussle and his wrist sustained a fracture with one bone bent. Dr DeMotte treated and dressed the injury and the boy is recovering.

Woman Cut by Scythe Near City
Mrs Chas Kirk residing northwest of the city suffered a deep gash on her left leg just above the ankle when she stepped on a scythe left by her husband. She was brought to town where Dr Bowman dressed and sewed the wound and is recovering from shock and blood loss.
