Albert Aron of University Heights says downtown entertainment ended badly after two robbers knocked him down in a parking lot took his $8 wallet. A trio then coerced him into his car, demanded $10 for the return of his wallet, and stole his $125 watch with a gun held to his head.
New York Governor Gilligan on NBC Today says the United States faces the worst economic crisis since the 1930s and laments lack of leadership from the Nixon administration. He calls the wage price freeze a mere time out in the game. In London, Paul McCartney announces the birth of a daughter Stella to Linda McCartney at King's College Hospital by Caesarean section.
Norwalk mother Mrs. Hilda Ruggles pleads for a type O positive kidney to save her 20 year old son Harry Greiner at Cleveland Clinic from progressive Nephritis. Doctors note transplant success up to 80 percent with a living related donor, while a donor must be healthy with two functioning kidneys. Ruggles cannot donate due to blood type. public response urged.
In Washington the Senate rejected a motion to table the bill extending the draft until June 30 1973, backing Nixon forces. The outcome keeps the push to set an April 1 withdrawal deadline alive but faces a possible filibuster and further debate, with no draft since June 30.
A suit filed in Huron County Common Pleas Court seeks dissolution of two companies owned by partners Edward Pleva and Clyde Rekart. Pleva alleges misappropriation and control issues with P&R Electric Inc. and Norwalk Home Rentals Inc. He seeks 80,000 dollars punitive damages and an injunction.
National Tea Co bars Royko paperback Boss from Chicago area stores amid complaints about Chicago image. Royko says he ordered National Tea products removed. Levy Co reports about 45 000 copies sold. Daley not cited as responsible. spokesman cites customer complaints and routine removal.
Hurricane Edith battered Louisiana and crossed into Mississippi on Thursday. Forecasters said Edith was milder than recent deadly storms and urged that evacuation plans not be affected for future events.
President Nixon said it may take generations for South Vietnam to become a democracy and ruled out pressure to force a contested election. He rejected cutting aid if Thieu runs unopposed on October 3 and warned that Thieu's overthrow could trigger a series of coups toward a Communist takeover.

Columbia Gas Co restored service to about 9,000 west suburb homes with 4,000 more expected back on by day’s end after a bypass valve was closed by a worker. 365 personnel aided 35 local workers across Bay Village, Westlake, Avon Lake, Avon, and North Ridgeville in this restoration effort.
The Ohio Board of Regents approved fee increases at nine state colleges for the first quarter and a tuition surcharge. Chancellor John D. Millett urged the increases, and the board approved them unanimously with refunds possible if courts rule the hikes violate the wage price freeze.
Millett announced increases in instructional and general fees at nine colleges while salaries remain frozen. He noted Ohio ranks 42nd nationwide in state money spent per student and urged that any further fee freezes require legislative action.
