New York telecasts reveal a one minute tribute by William Talman who died of lung cancer. The Perry Mason star, a heavy smoker, urges non smoking and quitting for health and family. Talman said he hopes his message helps end cancer for his six children.
Nixon will launch his Ohio campaign with a statewide telecast at 8 30 p m on a seven station network including WEWS TV Cleveland WKRC TV Cincinnati WTVN TV Columbus and WIMA TV Lima among others He will be interviewed by seven on the hour long show.
In Williamsville New York the school lunch menu featured items labeled with eerie Friday the 13th associations such as vampire soup steak sandwiches with the number 13 brutal ly stened cherries and almost fresh milk. In Belgrade Albania announced it would quit the Warsaw Pact amid Soviet pressure and pledged Chinese support should retaliation occur.

United Press International reports a hectic campaign week as Humphrey and Nixon blunder with each side chastised. Agnew apologized for labeling Humphrey as soft on communism and defended Nixon as a skilled diplomat while Dirksen and Ford rebuked the remark.
Washington disclosed that the Pueblo's primary duty was to observe Soviet naval activity from at least 13 miles offshore. MILAN Classes at EHOVE Vocational School will open Monday morning under superintendent J. Creighton Christ who said the Erie County Water Department will supply an adequate source of pure water. Officials are considering a plastic pipe to bypass a contaminated segment of the new water line. School was to open Sept 4 and will begin at 8 30 a.m with courses in agriculture business diesel mechanics auto body auto mechanics clerk typist cooperative office education data processing farm management entry secretary distributive education and occupational work experience.
Gilbert Shumate 40 of 78 Foster is in fair condition at Fisher-Titus Hospital after his hand was injured this morning at Clevite Corporation Harris Division in Milan. He was undergoing surgery. Beatrice Shoemaker 61 of Greenwich and Christina Gemmel 39 of Lorain were also treated for injuries after a fall at the fairgrounds and a dog bite in New London respectively.
About 2000 people attended the Lynn Anderson show at the Huron County Fair with extra grandstand seating. Open class pony judging starts 7 pm and Friday's events include Hurricane Hell Drivers shows at 7 and 9, followed by a Junior Fair Livestock Sale Saturday morning featuring roughly 225 animals and 45 buyers.
A health department study on Norwalk pollution in unsewered areas was completed at the request of Huron County Board of Health. Septic tanks in fringe areas like Old State Road and West Main Street have failed, and a proposal to extend city sewers may follow from the Ohio Department of Health.
A thousand-pound steer owned by Pat Opper near Norwalk remains missing after escaping from the Huron County Fairgrounds during unloading. Gary Opper, 13, had hoped to enter the steer in 4H.
