Dave Rollins shows seek for trade over college in EHOVE piece

In a final EHOVE series installment, 17 year old Dave Rollins, a Norwalk High junior and football wrestler, is set on enlisting in the Marines after high school though he would benefit from the EHOVE vocational school. He earns C and D in academics but shines in art and mechanical drawing, and would be a draftsman or welder if EHOVE existed today.

Norwalk Gas Station Robbery Leaves Attendant Slugged

A 16 year old Norwalk gas station attendant Henry Fairchild was robbed of 158 dollars at gunpoint around 8:30 Friday night at Clark's gas station on Benedict Avenue. The suspect fled after slugging Fairchild and threatening further harm. Roger Hunter, 17, on duty with Fairchild, had left briefly for change. Police Chief L C Hilson said the incident mirrors a Warrensville Heights robbery earlier, initiating a statewide alert for the suspect.

Johnson hikes U S Thai aid in response to Southeast Asia tensions

President Johnson announced a one third boost in Thai military aid and linked South Vietnam as the first step against communist aggression. Prime Minister Kittikachorn said aid will come in the next fiscal year and Thailand must bear primary defense responsibility. Halloween Parade Night For Norwalk Kids

The annual Halloween parade for Norwalk youngsters is set for 8 p.m. forming at 7:45 p.m. on Case Avenue in the Park and Recreation Center lot and marching to Norwalk High School. Police Dog Guards Victim as Suspect Arrested in Las Vegas

In Las Vegas area police say Burgie, a police dog, stood by the body of William Fortye as investigators connected him with a shooting. Fortye, a 5 year veteran with 20 bravery citations, was killed by his own service revolver during a routine patrol. Thomas Cornelius Howard and his wife Barbara Louise Howard were arrested a short time later and charged after an incident that left Howard missing a mangled hand thumb. a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Nov 2.
