Assault charges filed in shotgun attack case in New London

Daryl L. Davis and David P. Davis, both of AD 2 New London, jailed on assault and battery charges after a shotgun assault at the city reservoir. Victims Randolph Skinner and Thomas George filed charges. preliminary hearing set in Common Pleas Court today.

Harold Hitz Burton longtime Supreme Court Justice who served 13 years died at age 76 in Washington Doctors attributed the death to Parkinsons disease and kidney and heart complications He retired at the start of the 1958 59 term and was succeeded by Justice Potter Stewart Chief Justice Earl Warren issued a statement on his frail health since retirement

Norwalk Board Reviews Five-Year School Goals Plan

Dr. Sturgis R. Corbin proposed a tracking based five year plan beginning 1965 with freshmen. It would offer four years of foreign language, more math sociology art and music, and a summer program for juniors and seniors. The board took no action and will reconvene to set feasibility and priority.

Court Hears Talks on Union Picketing Restraint

Huron County Common Pleas Judge Robert J. Vetter met with attorneys for Northern Ohio Telephone Co and Local 986 IBEW to discuss revisions to a restraining order against mass picketing in Norwalk. Police arrested one striker as talks continued after brief recess. Roydes charged that a woman spat at him. a hearing is set for Tuesday in Norwalk Mayor's Court.
