An on the spot UPI report says a U S military transport plane shot down by Cambodians may have crashed in disputed territory. Eight Americans died and U S officials could not confirm if the strike occurred in Cambodian airspace amid charges from Phnom Penh.

Partly cloudy and cooler tonight then Thursday with temperatures near 36 to 42 and a high around 58 to 64. Five day forecast shows temperatures about four to eight degrees above normal with little daily change until the weekend and a cooler start next week. Rainfall expected around a tenth of an inch, possible Friday night or Saturday. Marriage license applications list several couples in Willard and Norwalk, with occupations noted. Licenses issued include Emil Ruh and Carole Schug in Monroeville. Births record three newborns, two girls and a boy, with addresses. Deaths note Grusilla D 95 of Willard and Thadeus G Wilson 67 of Wakeman.
A 70 year old Wakeman resident, lacking a driver's license, left his home at 6 45 a m triggering a county wide search. State Patrol broadcast the alert while deputies auxiliary and local police scoured Huron County. He was reportedly seen in Collins Hartland Center and Olena before vanishing again.
In Norwalk patrol units broadcast a state wide alert as a man fled in a running car on Sandusky Street in Plymouth. The vehicle struck a planter after curbing a house before Plymouth police detained the suspect and the vehicle until his relatives arrived.
A Navy Day jet bomber crashed into several buildings at El Centro Naval Air Facility killing eight and injuring at least 22. The three crew members on board the Douglas A3D Skywarrior died, including Cmdr. Arthur Perkett. The plane reportedly struck a telephone pole before hitting post exchange theater barber shop and swimming pool.
Talks between Northern Ohio Telephone Co and Local 986 IBEW broke off after nine hours with no contract. Mediation by Harry Gray at the Toledo FMCS yielded no future meetings as both sides reverted to original proposals. NOT reported wage and hospitalization terms remain contentious.
Early this morning a tall cable was cut one-quarter mile south of Huron on the William Enderly farm Route 99, disrupting long distance and some local service. Crews restored service by 9:30 a.m. Investigation noted the cut may have used a crude instrument with a bird shooting tower used to reach the line. The incident was reported to the Erie County sheriff's department at 3:15 a.m. and FCC and FBI were notified. Evidence suggests a dispute related to wage talks between the company and the union, with subsequent stalled negotiations after offers and counteroffers.
Dr. Richard Lingenfelter drives a fundraising push for Norwalk Airpark with 250 shares at 200 each and a one day left on the option. He reports strong local industry support and interest from outside groups, cautioning that failure could deny the city an airport.
Boston radio advertiser Gordon Dubois stowed away on the Johnson campaign press plane in Boston. He told Secret Service agents he was Osceola of the Seminoles and later vanished after the flight. He was held by agents until Johnson's speech ended.
Four courses will be offered this semester by the Norwalk City School District in adult evening classes. Registration by mail or in person at Norwalk High School from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday. Minimum ten students per class. Classes start Nov 3 and meet each Tuesday. Courses include beginning sewing, beginner conversational French, basic math, and driver training. Registration fee is 5 dollars for most classes and 25 dollars for driver training with additional material costs.
