Ford inspector dies after Turnpike crash near Norwalk
Santo Amara, an inspector for Ford Motor Co. in Detroit, died about 2:45 a.m. at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital from injuries in a turnpike collision five miles west of the Norwalk-Sandusky interchange. His wife and Morris Tringali, 69, of Dearborn, were hospitalized with injuries. The Tringali car was struck from behind by a Toledo teen driver, David Wellman, 17, sending the vehicle off the road and overturning. The incident, under Turnpike Patrol investigation with no charges yet, occurred in Erie County as Amara and Tringali were returning from a trip to Europe. Funeral arrangements for Amara will be handled by a Detroit funeral home.
