The mayor’s daughter wed Saturday. After the Knights of Columbus Hall departure, Mayor Harold Finch and his wife found their car covered with glass wax, paper stuffed, and a burglar alarm. Their Newton Street home was wrapped in toilet paper and valentine trim, a prank by the groom’s friends.

Bombing hits Con Thien Marines again in Vietnam

U S officials report five Marines killed and 26 wounded after a dawn strike on a Third Marine Division position near the North South Vietnam border. Seven additional Marine bombs struck Con Thien, leaving two dead and 17 wounded with 42 buried briefly. Fidel Castro said Che Guevara likely died after being shot by Bolivian troops, urging a large Havana tribute.

Norwalk Mother of 13 Has First Set Of Twins

A Norwalk mother of 13 children gave birth Sunday to twins Ann Marie and Teresa Marie at Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital. The couple, Elmer and Mrs. Lesch, celebrate the surprise, with two older daughters in college and two children already on track for futures at Notre Dame and the University of Detroit.

Richard A. McDonald of Galion sues Havana Omar Grain and Supply Co. for $150,000 claiming an elevator accident on Oct. 12, 1966 left his right leg amputated. He alleges he was wiring conduit for J. & J. Electric Co. when an auger was activated without warning by elevator general manager Thomas Schaffer while two coworkers were nearby. He seeks damages.

County Okays Annexation by Willard City

Huron County Commissioners approved the annexation of 40 acres around Routes 224 and 194 to Willard in a unanimous decision. The plan would place an Evangelical United Brethren Church site within the area while the remainder may be sold to a developer for housing, drawing opposition from area residents.

Camardese Seeks Talk With Grassroots Welfare Pay Plan

Norwalk physician Dr. N M Camardese said he hopes to speak to the Norwalk Grassroots anti poverty group on October 26. The group has asked the Huron County Medical Society to send a member to discuss welfare patients medical bill payment. The motion to contact the society was new and no answer yet. Camardese has criticized welfare officials for telling clients not to pay doctors.

Signal Yearbook Wins Sixth Medalist Rating at Columbia

Norwalk High School's 1967 Signal yearbook earned its sixth medalist rating from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association announced at Columbia University. Advisor Kendall Falke noted the award, with Elizabeth Johnson as editor and Cindy Edwards designing the theme and cover. Debby Pohl served as business manager.
