A female judge in a live televised trial sentenced four affluent Filipino youths to death in the electric chair for kidnapping and raping Maggie De la Riva. The action followed the actress personally filing her complaint with President Marcos. De la Riva and the nation heard the verdict with mixed emotions as defendants protested innocence. the death sentence will be reviewed by the Supreme Court.

In Wellington near Ohio 58, South Central students and a bus driver were injured after a bus driver suffered a stroke returning from a football game. Driver Dale Miller Seaman, 61, of rural Willard, and 14 year old Charlotte Simon were admitted in fair condition at Southern Lorain Hospital. A third student, Renee Albert, was treated and released. The bus with 38 passengers veered off the road and into a ditch after the stroke. The rest were not seriously injured.
Five city crashes over an 11 hour period snarled traffic Friday. A three car chain at East Main and South Garden sent two people to hospital. Bar ry Woodward 16 was cited for unsafe following. Other minor collisions occurred near Bob's Newsstand and Monroe Whittlesey.
A 66 year old Norwalk woman, Mrs. Rosella Burrill, was struck crossing Main Street in the downtown square at 6 50 a.m. She was treated at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital for scratches and a possible ankle injury. Rexnard Meyer, 63, of Monroeville, was cited for failing to stop at a red light. The collision occurred as she walked to the Ohio Northern Telephone Co where she works.
