Riot in Stratford Leaves Youths Wounded in Center

In Stratford on Avon England a riot by teen gangs left at least three youths shot. Police called out every available officer as the unrest unfolded in the center of the town famous for Shakespeare birth.

Bendix Westinghouse workers strike at Lorain plant

About 1,100 workers at the Bendix Westinghouse Automotive Air brake plant in Elyria walked out on Friday in an unauthorized wildcat strike. Union members blamed the action on dissatisfaction with how an incentive payment clause was interpreted. Bowling Green State University faced questions about moving from semester to quarter with a recommended September 1967 deadline.

Navy and Army Extend Viet Nam Tours for Key Officers

UPI reports that 100 to 200 Navy pilots and select Army officers will remain in Viet Nam for six to twelve months longer than their wishes to meet combat needs. The orders, issued in Saigon and Washington, apply to regular officers not in reserve and exclude enlisted personnel.

Train Hits School Bus Killing 20 Teens in Dorion

A westbound Canadian National freight train struck a yellow school bus carrying about 40 teens to a high school dance in Dorion Quebec. At least 20 were killed and 16 more injured, some critically, as bodies and wreckage lay along three quarters of a mile of track.
