North Vietnam Allows Christmas Gifts for U.S. POWs

The Vietnam News Agency announced in Tokyo that North Vietnam will permit Christmas packages from families to captured American airmen. The program runs from December 1 to December 31, 1969, coordinated by the General Department of Posts and Telecommunications.

Ben Anolik dies after 14 months with transplanted heart

Former boxing promoter Bernard Anolik dies at Presbyterian University Hospital at age 47. He was the world's 37th person to receive a heart transplant, first in Pennsylvania, performed August 31, 1968. He survived 14 months with the new heart. Nixon eyed Thanksgiving dinner turkey to be gifted from Virginia grower.

Mother and partner face case over child abandonment

In Bakersfield a preliminary Municipal Court hearing opened for Betty Lansdown Fouquet 26 and Ronald Fouquet 31 of Bell Gardens accused of abandoning five year old Jody Fouquet beside a freeway south of the city last month. The girl identified her mother in court.

Cloudy with rain tonight and a 80 percent chance of precipitation. Low in the 30s to around 40. Wednesday cooler with a high in the 40s and scattered rain or snow mixing. Winds southerly then variable, 15 to 25 mph today, easing tonight. Norwalk highs 56 and lows 46. humidity low this afternoon. Precipitation total .19 inches. Moon phases and sunrise set. Birth announcements list five couples with newborns and parents. Several marriage license applications listed, plus two deaths in the area.

Power Outlets Hit Northeast City After Circuit Failure

A corroded primary feeder bolt and overloaded secondary circuit caused a power outage in the northeast city area from about 6:00 to 8:45 p.m. Monday. Service Director William V. Mount said repairs were underway and that Saginaw Wire Products would be moved to a separate circuit by November 28. The outage affected homes, businesses, and a factory, with no damage reported.

Norwalk Council to vote on income tax limits tonight

The Norwalk City Council meets at 7 30 p m to decide final readings on the city income tax proposal. Intervention by a Blue Ribbon Tax Commission halved the rate from 1 to ½ percent, and four ordinances to authorize bids for fire, street, electrical, and tree removal work will also be on the agenda.

Plane Crashes In Area injures Two In Ohio

A single engine Ohio National Guard plane crashed at a private airstrip near Milan Ohio injuring two men. The pilot Capt Dean Wilson was treated and released at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital. Passenger Robert Wingard 40 of Kent was in critical condition.
