Driver without license jailed after guilty plea

A 45 year old man from Shelby admitted he never had a driver license and was sentenced in County Court to 90 days in jail and a 200 dollar fine plus court costs. A 100 dollar portion of the fine may be suspended if a license is obtained by January 1. Gallup Road will close Tuesday for drainage work as phase one of Gallup and Old State road improvements. City negotiations on wage and benefit upgrades for Norwalk city employees continue after a two hour second meeting with no details released.

A Navy crew reports sighting what may be the Edmund Fitzgerald wreck in Lake Superior amid search efforts by the Coast Guard. The 729 foot ore carrier sank with all hands during a storm Monday night, once the Great Lakes’ largest vessel.

Methane Explosion Kills Foreman in Michigan Tunnel

A methane gas blast in a 1.2 mile underground tunnel in Mount Clemens Michigan killed foreman Ulysses Junior Hayes 46 of Detroit and injured six workers. Rescue efforts were hampered by smoke and a three hour recovery followed the one hour evacuation of the injured from 54 feet below street level.

Farm Agencies Consolidated In Huron County

Five county agencies will be housed in the Huron County Administration building within six months to save federal funds. The move, announced by Senator Taft's office, involves the Cooperative Extension, ASCS, Farmers Home Administration, Soil Conservation Service, and Soil and Water Conservation District. Only two offices will relocate. no jobs will be cut, 17 full-time workers remain. GOAL 91 000 PLEDGED 69 055 or 75 9 percent.
