Paffenbarger Named Chamber Chief for Norwalk 1965

T L Paffenbarger will head the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce in 1965 after being elected by the Senior Board of Directors. He succeeds John G Kaiser and has served as first vice president and led the Buy A Share In Norwalk drive. Other officers named include Walter J Baisch James Westerhold and Mrs Helen Lippert. The annual dinner at Maplehurst School will introduce new officers with John Hall and John Krizan as speakers. Reservations close Friday with about 50 tickets remaining.

Columbus officials said the state controlling board released 200000 in emergency funds for immediate BIS improvements near Lancaster. The board approved 15000 for repairs to buildings and facilities and 50000 to buy recreational equipment for the Boys Industrial School.

Fire kills six in Holyoke apartment blaze

A five story Holyoke brick building fire late Wednesday night left six dead, including five children. Police found an unidentified child among rubble. five people were hospitalized from smoke. About 95 residents fled into 40 degree weather as flames burned through floors, trapping victims in upper apartments.
