State tests pinpoint source of gasoline leak
Officials withheld the city’s gas station name as the source of gasoline seeping into the sanitary sewer from a station 15 feet off Benedict Avenue on East Water Street. Norwalk firemen said the station has been notified that one of its tanks was leaking gas. Tests by the state fire marshal traced the gasoline to the station and steps to stop the leak were taken. The EPA was notified, and firemen collected sewer water and station samples for laboratory analysis to identify the company and gasoline type.
