Virginia O'Hanlon Douglas dies at 81 in Valatie New York

Mrs Laura Virginia O'Hanlon Douglas who wrote the famous Yes Virginia letter as a child of eight to the New York Sun has died in Valatie New York. She was 81. The 74 year old editorial inspired the Santa Claus claim.

Panthers Found Innocent in New York Trial

A New York jury acquitted 13 Black Panthers on all charges including conspiracy to blow up police stations and murder attempts of two patrolmen. The eight months of trial ended in 90 minutes with a not guilty verdict for all defendants. Foreman James Fox said the state's case was too nebulous.

Willard OK Imposes Curfew After Riot Mix

Willard Oklahoma city council enacted a 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew after a late Thursday confrontation between police and youths. About fourteen youths were arrested, with six to appear in Mayor's Court, as officers from multiple towns aided local police. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Eight general contractors submitted base bids for the St Paul Catholic Church remodeling estimated at 450000. Bids from Roth Construction Norwalk to Studer-Obringer New Washington range up to 311625 with several firms in the 190k to 260k area.
