Council To Act On NF Reservoir Project

Norwalk faces a first step toward a Northwest Water Plan project with a council vote on a resolution to file an application with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a new East Branch Huron River reservoir near North Fairfield. The plan envisions future water via upstream releases and ties Norwalk and Milan to river augmentation in 1977 to 1986.

Ohio Puts 473 942 Bite On Big Muskie

The Ohio Department of Taxation set a three week deadline for Commonwealth Plan Inc to justify nearly half a million dollars in 1970 personal property tax on the Big Muskie earth mover leased to Central Ohio Coal Co. The 27 million pound machine, in operation since June 1969, has not run since December 6 1970 due to extensive breakdowns and ongoing repairs.

Monroeville Reverses Not to Rehire Social Studies Teacher

Monroeville School Board reversed its decision not to rehire Joe Mitchell a 24 year old social studies teacher at Monroeville High School. Mitchell declined the two year limited contract and will pursue jobs in other districts. Industrial arts teacher Paul Broad also declined to return citing a preference for industry work.

Fisher-Titus awards 798500 contract for hospital wing

NL Builder Jennings and Charella Construction Co. of New London won the bid to build a new wing and remodel the maternity area at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital. Groundbreaking hoped within 20 days, completion in 300 days, opening planned for early next year. The project adds 20 beds and includes a 2400 square foot laboratory.
