Mrs. Laverne Heyman of Monroeville is the only qualified candidate for Huron County welfare director after the state personnel official said she was the sole candidate to appear for the examination. A 20 year old rural New London soldier Darrell L Meade was killed when his 1963 car convertible hit a utility pole at Route 60 and Route 20 near the Vermilion River Bridge. Wet roads sparked a spate of minor crashes in the area Friday. Oberlin resident Lou Anne Geigel 28 was arrested for driving while intoxicated after colliding with another vehicle while turning from State Route 18 onto Vesta Road at 6 20 PM. Norwalk resident Harold McClaflin was injured but not treated. Toledo man Joseph Dutton 52 swerved to avoid a cow in State Route 4 south of the Turnpike, braking hard and skidding.

Parade to Highlight Miss Firelands Pageant in Norwalk
