Israeli forces cross into Lebanon with tanks and armor
United Press International reports Israeli troops supported by tanks and armored cars entered southern Lebanon and occupied positions previously held by Irish U.N. peacekeepers. In northern Israel a Palestine death by own action squad engaged an Israeli patrol in a one hour fight. the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine reported two of its soldiers killed, while Israel said one guerrilla was wounded and captured and three escaped.

Baby Survives External Heart Surgery In Arkansas
Little Rock baby Jimmy Leake, born February 6 with his heart outside his chest, became the first infant to survive corrective surgery without life support. After three operations beginning at three hours old, the infant left University of Arkansas Medical Center home with his parents, expected to live normally. Doctors say the rare condition, ectopia cordis, has only 146 recorded cases since 1641, with another survivor now a two-year-old in Philadelphia on respirator support.
