Norwalk Court projects 75 000 in net for first year
Norwalk Municipal Court will end 1976 with a 75 000 net profit over costs according to Law Director Ronald Freeman. He compared court finances to the former Mayor s Court and noted docket efficiency under Judge Donald Derby. Freeman called the net gain welcome and said the new department costs are not borne by taxpayers. In April Derby disposed of 1 212 cases with 534 pending, most traffic violations, while expenses were pared to the bone. Council tabled two zoning ordinances affecting 192 acres on the south edge, with plans to preserve more business zoning and oppose residential expansion. First readings passed for a 3346 support grant to the Huron County Regional Planning Commission.
