Czech President resigns after 15 years in power

Antonin Novotny announced his resignation as president of Czechoslovakia to aid the further development of socialist society. The move ends his 15 year grip on power after losing the Communist party leadership in January to more liberal colleagues.

Snowstorm Hits Ohio With Up To Four Inches Expected

An early spring snowstorm sweeps across Ohio with up to four inches possible in several areas. The U S Weather Bureau in Columbus issued heavy snow warnings for southwest and central Ohio as snow continues today and tonight, with northern parts seeing lighter snow and southeastern rain turning to mix.

NFO Plans 1000 Hog Slaughter Protest in Ohio

Clinton County NFO members were to slaughter 1000 hogs as a price protest. Ed Luttrell said 1000 to 2000 hogs would be shot and buried at the Richard Rolfe farm near Sabina unless packers paid 23 cents a pound.

Pistols Fix Fight Over Woman in Mexico City

Evaristo Valerio and Jesus Rebollar drew pistols after a dispute over Margarita Fabian. They fired after 20 paces. the woman rushed between them and was shot in the head, listed in critical condition in a Mexico City hospital.

Intermittent snow and colder weather continue with highs in the 30s and lows near freezing. Norwalk records 37 and 31 degree Thursday highs and lows, with humidity peaking in the afternoon and 0.01 inches of precipitation in 24 hours. Johnson daughter ejected from San Francisco cable car for ice cream

In Prague the staunch Stalinist Antonin Novotny stepped down today as president of Czechoslovakia. He said the move would aid the further development of their socialist society. The resignation ends 15 years of his rule.

Norwalk Board Talks May Levy Mills

Norwalk City School board plans a Tuesday night meeting to determine the mills voters will approve for the May 7 election. The board previously voted March 12 to place a levy on the ballot and will hold a Finance Committee meeting to set the amount. If finances aren’t ready, a second work session will occur and a special meeting may be scheduled to approve the levy, with 48 hours notice delaying any action before Thursday.

Willard Receives State Aid for 340 Acre Reservoir Project

The Ohio Controlling Board approved 2 102 000 dollars in matching funds for Willard’s 340 acre reservoir as part of the Northwest Ohio Comprehensive Water Plan. Governor Rhodes and state officials signed the agreement at the statehouse, with construction set to begin in summer 1968.
