Saigon reports President Nguyen Van Thieu says South Vietnam will draft 135000 more men by year end. The measure targets 18 and 19 year olds and recalls veterans under 33 with under five years service, amid U S urging to include 18-year-olds.
Saigon reports 336 U.S. battle deaths last week bringing total American fatalities in Vietnam since 1961 to 20,096. Officials say the weekly loss is the lowest in weeks but the overall toll remains above twenty thousand.
In a 22 page foreign policy debate, Foreign Minister Torsten Nilsson accuses the United States of prolonging the Vietnam War and risking more human life. Washington recently recalled Ambassador Heath for consultations as relations with Sweden cooled.

A new 27 by 90 foot building designed by Hallmark will replace the former Ace Hardware site with a colonial yet unusual design. The shop expands display space and departments, possibly renaming to The Gift Gallery as work begins next month.
