Judge orders tape of ex chief’s voice for analysis

In Bucyrus Ohio Judge John Bender ordered a tape recording of former Tie Police Chief Michael Little to be used for analysis at a pretrial hearing. Little faces four counts of inducing panic for telephoned bomb threats to Buckeye Central schools in January and February. He was dismissed after arrest and is free on bond. He allegedly feared a school levy passing in November.

Violin Worth 200000 Spurs Reward For Detroit Musicians

Larry Sims and Oliver Cheatham of Detroit band Night Flight found a Guarnerius violin in a New York taxi. The instrument, owned by violinist conductor Alexander Schneider, yielded a $13,500 reward for the two musicians after its return.

Norwalk Man Jailed for Break-In and Probation

Gregory Mathers of 6642 Prospect St was found guilty of breaking into Norwalk Waste Materials Co on U S 250 North. He received five years probation and 60 days in county jail with 18 days credited, plus restitution to the company and mandatory attendance at Van der Meulen Halfway House in Mansfield. The judge also suspended an earlier sentence to Mansfield Reformatory for one to five years.

Norwalk District Faces Accreditation Warning Over Library Spending

The Norwalk School District received a warning from the North Central Association for not spending enough on library books and audio visual aids this year. Norwalk High School risks loss of accreditation if problems aren’t corrected within a year. the junior high is already listed "with deviations." District officials note 1978 figures fell short, with high school spending about 939 dollars against a 4,000 target and junior high at 589 versus 1,000.
