Wakeman Homecoming Parade Set With 34 Entries
Thirty four entries are planned for Wakeman's homecoming parade on July 25 at 9 30 a m The event includes an air show horseshoe contests a water fight between Wakeman and area firemen and a fireworks display valued at 204 A homecoming queen contestants will join the Norwalk Fourth of July parade and may attend Milan Melon Festival. The next committee meeting is July 10 at the Wakeman fire station.

In New London Connecticut a sailor leapt from the Gold Star Memorial Bridge chasing a departing submarine, Renato Mendoza 22, swam through icy water a quarter mile before reaching shore on his own and receiving oxygen from police. He said he mistook his location after returning from leave and thought he could board the USS Piper before it sailed on maneuvers.
