Norwalk’s 5-foot-8 giant leaves for Rockford
Edward L. Renders profiles Billy Ream longtime Norwalk coach and community figure who, despite jokes about his height, left a lasting footprint through the Firelands Track Team and Norwalk High School programs. Ream formed the Firelands Track Team in 1968, coached future Olympians, and organized civic activities while funding his program with his city job pay. He plans to help in Rockford’s marathon and shares a life philosophy from Bob Richards about doing good for others.
