Ohio Five Day Temperature Outlook With Showers

Temperatures in Ohio will run below normal for five days starting Tuesday with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and overnights from the lower 50s to low 60s. Showers midweek and at week’s end total about half an inch as cooler trends set in midweek and rebound later.

New London Beauty Wins Miss Huron County Title

New London's Mary Elizabeth Donaldson won Miss Huron County 1967 at Norwalk High with top marks in congeniality swimsuit talent and formal competition. She will compete at Cedar Point for Miss Ohio and then Miss America. First runner up Kathy Ann Emery. second runner up Jeanette Vaughn.

Air Authority Seeks Funds to Save County Airport

The Huron County Airport Authority asks Norwalk and county commissioners for more money to secure a state grant of 100000. The grant requires funds obligated by June 30. Norwalk Mayor Harold Finch calls a special city council meeting for 7 30 p m Tuesday.

Drowning in Lake Erie during yacht mishap near Lorain

George Metzger and crewman Mike Dawson sailed on the Mary Beth when a high five foot sea knocked Metzger overboard. Dawson threw a life ring which Metzger caught but released to remove waterlogged clothing and could not reach again. Coast Guard search failed and Metzger is listed missing presumed drowned. Dawson, Norwalk, was escorted to Lorain Harbor. Metzger, Berea, NASA Lewis Research Center employee, was aboard a 28 foot sloop en route to Cleveland Cedar Point race. The incident occurred just after noon with heavy seas reported.

Kids Sign For Summer Rec Program

The Norwalk Park and Recreation Center opened its summer program today under director Austin Shadle. Registration continues Tuesday at McGuan Field at 9 a.m. Tennis lessons will be offered, and a crafts program led by Mrs. Joe Vattorella will feature drawing ceramics and basket weaving.

Teenager Shot by Brother After Mother's Threats

In Cleveland a 16 year old Myron Brent was shot and killed by his 14 year old brother Michael after Myron allegedly choked his mother Rosetta Brent while high on marijuana. The incident followed curfew enforcement and household tensions.

Dishwasher Interest Highlights Cold War Summit Visit

At Island Beach New Jersey the Hollybush talks featured Mrs Lyudmila Gvishiani touring the governor’s kitchen and admiring an automatic dishwasher during a three hour seaside gathering with Mrs Lyndon B Johnson and Mrs Hughes. President Johnson and Kosygin met in Glassboro fifty five miles away. The luncheon included chicken wild rice and strawberries. The journalist notes Mrs Gvishiani found the dishwasher particularly interesting.
