Alabama Governor announces malignancy may require surgery
Gov Lurleen B Wallace said she has a malignancy that may require surgery next week at a famed cancer hospital in Houston Texas. She is a 40 year old mother of four and there is no word on hospitalization length. If she stays out of state more than 20 days Lt Gov Albert Brewer would become acting governor.

Swanbeck Opposes Administration Tax Bill in Ohio Senate
State Representative Ethel Swanbeck Republican of the 14th District which includes Huron and Erie counties speaks against the one percent gross receipts tax in the Rhodes administration omnibus tax bill. Vandals Damage 1966 Car In Sandusky After Theft
A 1966 automobile stolen in Sandusky was found in a lane off Lovers Lane Road by Joseph Harmon of Vermilion. Deputies said the car was crashed into a tree, then a ditch, with all four wheels off the ground and extensive damage including broken glass and pried trunks. The car was towed to a Norwalk station for fingerprint checks.

Berlin's Hurley Named New London School Superintendent
Joseph E. Hurley, assistant superintendent of the Berlin Milan Schools, was hired by the New London School District to succeed W R Burton who resigned for a Marion area position. Hurley signed a two year contract through June 30 1969 and will start July 3 while overseeing the Title 1 remedial reading program in Berlin Milan beginning July 5. He holds a BS from Ohio Northern and an MS in education administration from Indiana University and has held multiple posts including superintendent of the Berlin school district.

Train Hits Truck Near Fitchville
A westbound freight struck a semitrailer loaded with railroad ties at the Route 250 crossing south of Fitchville. The driver, identified later as Robert L. Santy of West Virginia, was admitted in poor condition to Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital after the 10:43 p.m. collision. The crossing flashers were operating and the engineer sounded the horn before the impact.
