The St. Anthony Messenger surveyed 325 graduates from 15 Catholic colleges who ranked John F Kennedy as their most admired figure, followed by Robert Kennedy Martin Luther King Jr Pope John XXIII and Jesus Christ. In Elyria Ohio a car crash killed Dallas Young and Brenda Buffington with another girl critically injured. Jana Thompson 15 was in critical condition. In Ohio highway death toll projection for 4th of July weekend was 38. Georges Pompidou was inaugurated president of France in Paris. Leo Durocher married Lynne Walker Goldblatt in Chicago on the off day with many Cub players present.
The Ohio Soldiers' and Sailors' Home in Sandusky, currently a men only facility, faces a potential influx of qualified female veterans from Ohio seeking admission after five years residence in the state.

A UPI report describes how a capitalistic press reporter infiltrates the SDS convention in Chicago to cover the event from within. He lies about membership while mingling with delegates as chants target Nixon and police, with 3,000 whites and a dozen Black participants present.

A vacant six room two story frame house on Shaw Mill Road was leveled by a fire early this morning. The blaze is under investigation by the Huron County Sheriff’s Department and BCI with no official cause given. The owner James Meacham of Milan says the house had been vacant for years and was previously destroyed by fire in 1960. Fire Chief Kenneth Link notes the scene remains smoldering and says the investigation may not advance until Saturday morning.
President Nixon said 50 to 51 U S senators back the Safeguard antiballistic missile program and warned new intelligence shows 80 percent of America's 1000 Minuteman ICBMs could be vulnerable to attack by 1973 if Russia continues multiple warhead development.
President Nixon says new budget cuts and tax surcharge extensions, plus credit tightening, may curb inflation within two to three months. He warns that if these measures prove inadequate, he will pursue other courses of action to prevent prices and interest from rising further.
No new leads have been developed in the Clarence Touby murder case. Norwalk police and BC I agents continue the inquiry, with nothing of great significance reported so far.
