First Degree Murder Indictment In Lorain Death
The Sandusky Erie County Grand Jury indicted 20 year old John T. Cody for first degree murder over the June 8 death of 18 year old Gladys Mae Nelson. Nelson died from injuries after being struck by Cody’s car near a crash site on State Route 113 near Cable Road.

Gunfire injures three officers in Sacramento Oak Park clash
In Sacramento Oak Park a gun battle wounded three policemen and a reporter was stabbed as police dispersed a crowd blocking traffic and damaging lawns. At least 24 arrests followed. Police Chief Rooney said the immediate danger ended after midnight.

Oberlin crash kills Norwalk man and 19 month old daughter
A 22 year old Norwalk man Robert E. Slanczka and his 19 month old daughter Stephanie died in a head on collision on Route 20 near Oberlin two cars involved. The mother Jacquelyn Slanczka is in critical condition at Elyria Memorial Hospital. The accident occurred Sunday at 12 30 pm and involved Eldorus Fornash 50 of Elyria who was passing another car and lost control. Fornash faces a charge of failure to pass in a safe distance. Double funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday at Gerber Funeral Home Wakeman with Rev. Charles Pearce officiating. Investigation continues.
