Johnson to address Glassboro commencement rumor swirls

President Johnson returns to Washington amid unconfirmed reports he will speak at Glassboro State College in New Jersey during a planned commencement. The White House did not comment and officials say no invitation had been extended.

LBJ Plans To Become Lecturer

President Johnson told an Australian broadcaster he plans lecturing and serving as a conversationalist in residence at Texas University after leaving politics next January. He said ranch life would be quieter and not hectic as Washington.

Humphrey rejects mixed feelings on Johnson draft

UPI reports Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey says he would have no mixed feelings if President Johnson ran again. In Clemson South Carolina a gas-fired drying unit exploded at J P Stevens Co textile plant killing three and injuring a dozen others. An electrician died while repairing the unit. The blast created a 40 foot roof hole and shattered a brick wall.

Police storm Rome University to clear leftist occupiers

In Rome police stormed the university to end a morning occupation by left wing students. Several thousand supporters gathered outside as about 100 officers forced the main entrance, breaking a padlock and entering the campus amid scattered violence.

Dr. Albion Gotaas urged graduates to view education as a lifelong process during the St. Pauls commencement. He credited the Nor walk Public Schools board for backing the recent tax levy proposal and thanked them for their support.

Willard Hires Willard Policeman as County Deputy

David J. DeWitt, a Willard policeman, is named deputy for Huron County Sheriff to replace Lt. Orin Doane who leaves for Florida. DeWitt served eight years in the Ohio National Guard, worked at R. R. Donnelley Co. from 1960 to 1963, and is a 1956 Greenwich graduate. Colvin withdraws from the county treasurer race for business reasons, moving to Denver June 15 with Norwalk Truck Lines. The Democratic party must fill the ballot vacancy by August 21.

Missing Girls Reunited After Ashland Park Mixup

Two six and eight year old girls were accidentally left behind by traveling Gaines families of Michigan after dining at Ashland State Park. A sheriff and state patrol located the pair as the split cars headed north and delivered them to Norwalk Police for an emotional reunion.

Body Found In Trunk Lorain Woman Held

Police questioned Cathy Howell and Cliff Chanin after admitting they placed 17-year-old Nancy Perri in a trunk and dumped it in the East River. They face a misdemeanor charge for illegally transporting a body. Nancy, from Lorain Ohio, died in a Manhattan apartment around May 24 25. the trunk was found off Staten Island Memorial Day with her nude body inside.
