Cyclist Killed in Berlin Heights Crash

A car and a motorcycle with two young men collided at Sixth and South Streets in Berlin Heights Monday night. The motorcycle driver Eugene Kilbride 27 of Huron was thrown from the bike and died on arrival at Elyria. The Berlin Heights police reported Kilbride was dead on arrival.

Norwalk Briefs Highlight Horse Ban and Zoning Fee Talks

Solicitor Frederick Waugh plans two ordinances for the Norwalk City Council including a ban on horse riding on city sidewalks and a zoning fee increase requested by the Planning and Zoning Commission. A New London teacher pleaded no contest to trespass and assault charges in Huron County Court, with fines totaling 125 dollars and several suspensions.

Valerie Solanas shoots Andy Warhol in studio attack

Warhol, famed for his Campbell soup can paintings, was shot by Valerie Solanas a 28 year old actress and SCUM member in his Times Square studio. Doctors described a 50 50 chance of survival as Solanas surrendered to police after the incident. Mario Amaya was wounded but not seriously.

Turn On Light Petition Eyed By Olena Trustees

Eight residents delivered a petition signed by 30 favoring turning on a street light in Olena while opponents Leroy Palm and Walter Caton attended the May 20 trustees meeting. Trustees schedule a June 17 hearing to hear both sides and a September public meeting may be held. The light on Route 250 east side near Greenwich Milan Townline Road is one of nine new lamps installed earlier this year.

May Brings Wettest Month In 12 Years For Norwalk

Norwalk's May rainfall reached 5.97 inches the wettest since 1956, with May average at 3.5 inches. The record May total dates back to 1895 at 8 inches. Last Wednesday saw 2.04 inches in a single day while May had 21 rainy days and below normal temperatures. A separate police report notes tires stolen from a 1963 car on Mill Street, valued at 50 dollars.
