Miners Die in Slate Fall at Hilmar Coal Mine
Rescue teams recovered the bodies of three coal miners trapped by slate at the Hilmar Coal Co. mine in Ashers Fork Kentucky. Oscar Sayler 22 Hima Ky Frank Gibson 21 and Ernest Harris 26 of Manchester Ky were buried under five feet of slate in the shaft. Sayler and Gibson were new hires and Harris a married father of two.
