Norwalk announces its annual three day Sidewalk Sale beginning Thursday with stores open until 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 5 30 p.m. Saturday. Main Street remains open to traffic but parking from Prospect to Hester is prohibited. Pedestrians may walk in the street in parking areas.
In Raleigh North Carolina UPI reports Joan Little’s attorneys failed to overturn a potential juror exclusion. Lawyer Jerry Paul asserted the state used a peremptory challenge to exclude blacks and moved for mistrial, but Judge Hamilton Hobgood denied the request.
The FTC accuses Kroger Co of advertising items not in stock and charging higher prices than listed. Kroger says its checks ensure advertised items are available at billed prices and cites a long-ago survey basis.
Three American astronauts quickly fixed a docking probe snag aboard the Apollo and moved closer to Russia's Soyuz crew in a historic two-nation orbital rendezvous. Alexei Leonov and Valeri Kubasov led the Soyuz in a near perfect assembly orbit while Thomas Stafford Vance Brand and Donald Slayton prepared to join them.

Juvenile Judge Thomas E. Heydinger told Huron County Commissioners they face an August 6 deadline to arrange financing for a juvenile justice center. He outlined three routes Sales tax real estate levy or using present funds noting a half percent piggyback could raise about 400000 annually. If pursued a public vote may be required and petitions must reach ten percent of gubernatorial vote totals. He urged a targeted two year tax window and a future funding plan.
