Village OKs water line for Mayer housing development

M’roeville council authorized Mayor Clayton C. Lord and village clerk Mrs. Raymond Christman to enter into an agreement with Mr. and Mrs. Cletus W. Mayer for a new water line serving the Mayer housing project on Peru Center Road after annexation set for Aug. 30. The agreement, prepared by Young and Young of Norwalk, awaits village solicitor Walter L. Hite’s approval. The body also accepted a single bid of 675 dollars from Smith Hi-Ranger of Norwalk to remove about 42 tree stumps and referred several trees for trimming. A dust complaint on Hollister Street due to construction prompted plans to oil streets and repair drains. Jerrold Henery, police chief and street commissioner, was tasked with obtaining specs for blacktopping Baker, Fulton, Hollister and Prospect Streets. The chief noted a possible modification to add walk lights at Main Monroe and Milan intersections, cost 1360 dollars, with the safety commission to weigh in. The highway department currently won’t extend green time for Monroe-Milan traffic. The clerk was asked to notify Huron County Commissioners to back Willard’s plan.
