Norwalk Drained By Sudden Deluge Turning City Into Venice
Norwalk endured an extraordinary rainfall of 6.3 inches between 2:30 and 10 am washing basements, flooding streets, and stranding cars. The Weather Bureau called it an exceptionally heavy downpour due to near stationary conditions. Creeks and sewers overflowed, power outages occurred, and city crews of 22 workers and six trucks operated to relieve flooding.

Record flood storm hits Old Plank Road area
City sewage plant on Old Plank Road reports creek widening to 50 feet as rainfall from the storm reaches 6.25 inches, the greatest since records began in 1906. Four Fire Calls In Five Hours From Lightning
Norwalk and Milan fire crews battled four minor blazes in five hours caused by a downed electrical wire. At 4:55 a.m. a TV coupler at 145 Woodlawn Ave emitted a strange odor and burned out. A furnace transformer at 150 Woodlawn Ave failed at 5:38 a.m. due to the same wire. A Milan chicken coop on Huron Avery Road burned at 7:55 a.m. before Milan units returned, another call came from the Glen Springer residence on Route 601.
