Four Hit Skip Accidents Investigated In Huron County

Four hit skip crashes were examined by the Huron County Sheriff’s Department after incidents Saturday and Sunday. A neon sign at the Hi Ho Drive In in Willard suffered major damage from a likely semitrailer or car hauler strike, with the steel frame bent and neon tubing shattered.

Mysterious odor traced to pond dumped methyl alcohol

Investigators linked a foul odor near Norwalk to a Riley Excavating Co property pond where three truckloads of methyl alcohol from a Dupont plant in Huron were dumped. Dupont said the chemical is non toxic unless ingested. The odor sickened patients and staff at Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital. health officials are probing the incident.

Boy Rescued After Floating on Holiday Lakes

An 18 year old from Commodore Pennsylvania Andrew J Miller was rescued Sunday morning at Holiday Lakes after being found floating in the water. An unnamed area worker pulled him from the lake and he was taken to Willard Hospital where he was released this morning. Sheriff deputies reported he was not a strong swimmer and had attempted to reach a raft. Willard Fire Department and the Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.

Mrs. Lawrence Hemingway and two couples from Huron Ohio jumped to a rock as a 23 foot cabin cruiser limited on Lake Erie near Cedar Point. The boat crashed on a rock during a sudden storm and was totaled though insured. Garner sustained a skinned ankle while all others escaped unharmed.
