The city administration proposed a six percent across the board raise for city employees at a Monday night meeting. Mayor Harold Finch and Service Director Herbert Krogh presented the plan to negotiation committees. details on employee reaction were unavailable. Schultz and Dr. Richard O Davies to its staff on a one year probationary basis expanding access to hospital facilities and minor surgery. The board also approved a $700000 project to add a new wing and joined the Health Planning Association of Northwest Ohio to support county wide medical care initiatives.
Walter E. Moats died at Norwalk Memorial Home at age 101 from pneumonia with a heart condition. Born January 1, 1870 in Cleveland, he farmed in East Norwalk and recalled his melons and peaches with pride. His wife Bertha died in 1937 and they had no children. funeral arrangements are to be announced by Kubach Smith Funeral Homes.
The Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital board announced a $700,000 expansion to add 20 beds in Norwalk. Groundbreaking is targeted before June. the plan includes a new southwest wing with 33 medical surgical beds and a reduced maternity ward to 11 beds. Funding will rely on hospital assets with bids to determine final costs.
