Betty Grissom filed a $10 million damage suit in circuit court against North American Rockwell Corp claiming gross negligence in the Apollo spacecraft launch pad fire that killed three astronauts. Her husband Virgil Gus Grissom is pictured with her.
A firebomb blasted the front window of James Jones Jr. manager of the Outhwaite Public Housing Project in Cleveland. Jones his wife and assistant manager Joan Daniel and her husband escaped uninjured as the fire spread. Witnesses saw two men flee. Jones and family were placed in protective custody. The attack follows a wave of vandalism amid protests over HR firings, work stoppages, and rent withholding. A bullet hole was found in the apartment of a housing director aide the same night.
