Committee Favors Sewer Separation For Grant
The Community Development Grants Commission asked for the same program HUD rejected last year and plans to present final recommendations to the city council. The six part program includes a sewer separation plan north of Main Street and improvements for handicapped access, plus an inspection team and housing rehabilitation. Commission members Howard Sawyer Richard Kerkhoff and Curtis Casper of Norwalk will assign dollar values before city council finalizes priorities and Vernis George prepares applications due Jan 21. A public hearing heard Curt Bowers describe water pressure issues near Norwalk Furniture as a potential funding target. The panel later indicated HUD favored larger scale impact projects and would refer the water line expansion to the Planning Commission.
