Nevada income tops when living costs included
A private study by the National Center for Economic Alternatives challenges the view that Alaska earns more. After adjusting for living costs, Nevada leads per capita income while Alaska drops to 20th. The report notes regional price differences in essentials like food, energy, housing, and health care drive rankings, with the South gaining and Mississippi lagging. New York falls to 27th in real income, Massachusetts to 37th, and New England states all drop when costs are considered.
