The Defense Department mandates 1,070 doctors and 56 osteopaths for Army service in 196?. The call issued Wednesday marks the lowest doctor draft quota in five years as the Pentagon notes last year’s figure was 2,118 physicians and 111 osteopaths. Early quotas often rise later in the year.
Senator Frank J. Lausche of Ohio urged a Senate subcommittee to approve fed eral ratification of the Ohio West Virginia Air Pollution Control Compact. He warned that without a stop to pollution the nation could become a gas mask wearing land with dying cities and ghost towns.
The best selling novelist Fannie Hurst died at 78 and left more than $1 million in income from her works to Washington University in St. Louis and Brandeis University. Her nine page will was filed in Surrogate's Court.
The Ohio Medical Board hearing for Dr. Rodger Dale Saylors of Bloomville on charges of gross immorality and unprofessional conduct was continued to April 15 and 16. A polygraph expert testified the doctor was not guilty of the alleged acts.

Total costs rise to 2,523,823 with greenhouse bids pending, requiring a 189,255 appropriation from the general fund.
