At the Fisher Body Plant in Mansfield Ohio officials report wage losses of 400000 during an eight day walkout by Local 549 United Auto Workers after two workers were fired for refusing to load dies for shipment to another plant.
Police arrested two robbery suspects this weekend. One suspect had $33 hidden in his mouth and half the money reportedly missing from the theft. Officers questioned the other suspect about his name and found the remaining $33 in his mouth.
Governor James Rhodes said the Far East foreign trade mission will not visit Vietnam. He insisted he is not going to Vietnam under any conditions as the mission departs Cleveland to secure export business in the Far East.
In Jackson Township a blaze destroyed a new $50,000 Canton home killing Terrance Furness Jr aged 8 and his sister Jill aged 7. The physician Terrance A Furness, his wife and two other children escaped. The fire started while the family slept.
Barry Goldwater said CIA subsidies to student groups serve national security but questioned why most funds flowed to liberal organizations. He maintained support for intelligence gathering but urged scrutiny of funding bias.

UPI reports Teamsters president James R. Hoffa failed two late appeals seeking reconsideration of his 1964 conviction and a new trial. The ruling could allow federal marshals to imprison him within days as he fights for further delay while he leads talks with the Teamsters.
Two men attempted a break in at Wickes Lumber Co on Ohio 18 in east Norwalk. They fled after triggering the alarm. padlocks on the yard gate were broken, glass door damaged, but no items appeared missing. Deputies tracked footprints toward the railroad but lost them. Neighbors recalled dogs barking around 11 p.m. Sunday.
Avon Lake Ohio nine Coast Guard search teams used eight inch ice and aircraft to locate 13 year old Richard Myers and 15 year old John Stanley who vanished after riding bicycles onto Lake Erie ice Sunday. A helicopter, two aircraft, and a Coast Guard unit scoured the shore and ice for hours without success, tracks found near shore fading out further out.
Gov. James A. Rhodes declined President Johnson’s March 18 invitation to meet with the president and his cabinet along with several other governors. Rhodes and Mrs. Rhodes planned to be in the Far East with an Ohio industry-hunting delegation at that time.
Police investigate a burglary at Norwalk High School after an amplifier disappeared Saturday night or Sunday morning. Custodian Cletis Gies found a southwest basement window broken Sunday afternoon while preparing for a Girl Scout program. No injuries reported.
Veterans lion tamer Anthony Vitanza 42 of Cleveland was attacked during a portable cage act with 13 big cats in Reading Pennsylvania 2300 spectators screamed as the lioness lunged from a pedestal biting and clawing him He finished the act then sought hospital with severe gashes to his left hand and shoulder The circus spokesman said it was his third attack in this career and blamed the confined cage for the incident.
