Truman at hospital recovering as daughter visits

Margaret Truman Daniel told reporters in Kansas City that her father, former President Harry S. Truman, is just fine and ready to go home after entering the hospital on February 2 for a sudden bout of flu. The visit came as Truman’s condition improved.

Sirhan objects to diary reading at Kennedy trial

Morton says bid for GOP chair is in limbo

Local youths found dead from carbon monoxide poisoning

Norwalk 18 year old William James Andrews and 16 year old Barbara Lou Clapp were found dead in a parked car four miles southwest of Bellevue. Coroner Dr. Albert O Halloran ruled asphyxiation likely from carbon monoxide with the ignition on and heater used. The deaths are being treated as accidental with the car details and scene under investigation.

Negro Students Demand Meeting With Cleveland Supt Briggs

About 200 Negro students from John Hay High School stormed the office of city school Supt Paul Briggs in Cleveland shouting Black power. They blocked elevators, then moved to the auditorium vowing to stay until Briggs met their grievances including suspensions dress code and study hall changes. A Life magazine crew accompanied Briggs.

Monroeville Driver Dies In Accident

Dennis W. Fries 22 of Dogtown Road Monroeville was killed when his car overturned on State Route 547. His two passengers cousins Steven J. Bores 21 and Donald L. Bores 21 were injured. Fries recently returned from Germany with the 79th Engineering Division and was a 1965 Monroeville High School graduate.

Nixon visits Parliament as anti Nixon protest flops in London

President Nixon dined with Queen Elizabeth II and visited the House of Commons in session. A planned large anti Nixon demonstration outside Buckingham Palace drew only a few dozen protesters as Nixon was greeted by several thousand supporters and met lawmakers during the visit. The event highlighted NATO detente and bipartisan support for Nixon's stance on consulting allies before any summit with the Russians.
