Texarkana Shell Blast Kills 11 at Army Plant

An artillery shell exploded on an assembly line at Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant killing 11 workers and injuring at least 14. The blast occurred at 10:30 p.m. CST in a packed packing room, with investigation begun to determine the cause.

Wind storms lash Huron County causing outages and closures

Severe winds up to 71 miles per hour battered Huron County causing the evacuation of a Norwalk family and school closures in two districts. Widespread damage included downed wires, trees and poles and many residents faced hours without power. Utilities reported outages as crews worked through the night while a temperature drop followed the storm. Western Reserve High School and local facilities were shuttered as damage was assessed.

Wall Collapse Causes 70000 Dollar Plant Damage Norwalk

A windstorm toppled a new Saginaw Wire Products wall on Ontario Street Norwalk before 1 a.m. causing about 70000 dollars in damage. No one was onsite. Builders expect insured loss and rapid delivery of replacement steel, with debris removal and possible one week delay in reconstruction.

72-year-old Harry Kelly pleaded guilty to intoxication in Mayor's Court this morning after being found sleeping in a hotel room unregistered at the Colonial Hotel. Police report he pulled a wine bottle from his shirt and swept glass under a patrol car, refusing to clean it up, and was ordered to leave town.
