Three Cambridge scientists announced fertilizing a human egg outside the body and creating the start of a fetus. The embryo was later destroyed, and experts cautioned the method cannot be used on a large scale for several years.

Rings Worth 59 000 Taken

Two women stole eight golden rings valued at 59 000 dollars from Holmans Jewelers Inc 1 East Main Street during peak hours. A bystander saw the theft. police issued a bulletin after observing two Negro women in a late model Ford or Mercury on the Ohio Turnpike. The rings were insured.

Beaverdam Man Denied Bail in Slaying Case

Mark Hodges of Beaverdam had bail denied in Wood County Common Pleas Court on a first degree murder charge for the killing of Karen Kern of Sylvania. Kern is the niece of Ohio AFL-CIO President Frank King of Toledo. Arraignment set for February 25.

Jordanian Forces Shell Israeli Settlements in Galilee

United Press International reports Jordanian forces shelled two Israeli settlements Degania Bet and Poria in upper Galilee Friday night. One woman was injured as rockets struck the targets and Israeli forces returned fire, according to Israeli military spokesmen in Jerusalem.

Willard to vote on 8.5 mill school levy May 6

A special election in Willard is set for May 6 to decide an 8.5 mill school levy merging a 4.5 mill existing levy with a proposed four mill addition. If approved, the levy would run indefinitely to cover current expenses. Voters in Willard and parts of Greenfield New Haven Norwich Richmond Auburn Township Crawford County are eligible.
