Frigid morning and afternoon conditions on U S 20 just east of the area sparked multiple slide offs into ditches. Authorities reported several vehicles damaged but no serious injuries.
Anthropologist Margaret Mead urged two marriage models to shield children from divorce. An individual marriage would use birth control to allow cohabitation without children. a parental marriage would be for producing offspring and harder to dissolve.

Two pickets may stand at the gate under a court injunction. Local 804 officials said the union agreed to reduce pickets to meet mediator conditions to enable talks with Pioneer Rubber Co. Attorneys for both sides indicated willingness to bargain and a meeting was expected early next week.
Teamster leader James R. Hoffa asks the Supreme Court for a second time to review his jury tampering conviction. The motion comes on the deadline day for such actions after the court rejected his appeal December 12. Rarely does the high court revisit earlier refusals to renew a case.
Huron County Board of Health sought an injunction against Raymond J. Best owner of Best Mobile Home Park in East Norwalk. The park will be closed by March 1 after Best’s lawyer and the prosecutor reached the agreement. Best was already cleared on two of three sanitary violation charges in county court.
Arlington National Cemetery will restrict future burials to Medal of Honor recipients, active duty deaths, long serving retirees, and veterans who held Cabinet posts. Wives of eligible individuals will also be eligible. The Army issued the rule Friday, effective next Friday, due to overcrowding.
Norwalk Presbyterians relocate from the 1870 West Main church to a new stone faced building costing over 600000. The structure features a 50 foot spire a 28 foot cross and a basketball court education wing and Boy Scout room reflecting a youth focus. Old windows and items from the previous church remain as sentimental links.
