Homicide Ruled in Death of Wakeman Man Wheeler
The body of David E. Wheeler, 48, of Wakeman, was found in a Bowling Green cornfield after he disappeared in September. Wood County coroner Roger A. Pearce ruled the death a homicide. A 16 gauge shotgun and a wallet with $250 were found on the body. Wheeler is survived by his wife, a Wake man Elementary teacher, and three children in college.

Fire damages Norwalk home of Oates family
The Route 61 residence of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Oates near Laylin Road suffered 2000 to 2500 in fire damage caused by an electric blanket. Six family members including four children and Mrs. Oates' sister escaped with help from a babysitter Charlene Chase as firefighters arrived at 9 35 and stayed about 90 minutes.
