A large school of tiny fish entered Lake Erie water and jammed the plant intake near Cleveland, halting the rotating screen and cutting turbine cooling. The outage affected about 20,000 homes as two generating turbines risked burnout until power was restored after 90 minutes.
Gen Maxwell D Taylor in his Harper Row book Responsibility and Response says the United States acted more from instinct than sound judgment in defending Vietnam. In Bowling Green Ohio 10 month old Stephanie Newman was killed by a sister with a .22 revolver during a gun display. In Washington Dirksen faces Sen Humphrey optimism on the consular treaty with Russia. In Saginaw Michigan two elderly couples were slain in a racially mixed neighborhood, Carl Middlefort and wife Gertrude and Archie A Claytor and wife Marie.
In London a Sunday school teacher asked what one must do before forgiveness of sin. A UPI report notes a boy answered sin. In Washington two part time UT students Luci Johnson Nugent and her husband Patrick plan to drop out as Luci expects a baby in May and will devote full time to motherhood.
New York Playboy Club dismissed 42 bunnies for prancing on a picket line instead of entertaining patrons. Reinforcements were en route as William Siegal said airlifted replacements from other Playboy Clubs were being sent to New York.
Fort Worth workers confirmed a gondola car labeled as a load of snow contained real snow. A Rock Island Railroad spokesman joked Chicago sent snow south to warmer places, noting tracks were being cleaned there.

UPI reports Michelle Ray a 28 year old French journalist returned from three weeks with the Viet Cong as their guest in the Central Highlands. She described two days in a bunker under air attack and said captors were gentlemanly and treated her well though she endured sleep loss and constant movement near the An Lao Valley.
The Farmer's Almanac forecast a 1 to 5 inch snow, and Sunday brought five inches to Huron County. Norwalk and Willard schools canceled along with St. Pauls and several events as road crews battled drifting snow and icy conditions. Roads remained passable but slick.
Pickets chilled but persisted before Pioneer Rubber Company in Willard as talks with United Rubber Workers Local 804 reached deadlock. Federal mediator Harry Weber oversaw the Friday meeting. no dates for further sessions were set.
Thomas McIntyre of 1211/2 E Main St was found in contempt of court by Juvenile Court Judge Russell Antrim after failing to answer a subpoena to testify. He was given until noon to pay the $25 fine.
Congress plans to quiz Treasury Secretary Henry Fowler on the administration s revised 1968 Vietnam War cost estimates. Fowler is to testify before the Joint Economic Committee as Sen Proxmire notes Johnson overstated costs and the 1967 total runs about 20 billion dollars, drawing bipartisan criticism.
Huron County ties with Champaign and Clinton for second lowest December unemployment at 2.6 percent. Knox County records 2.5 percent, Meigs the highest at 8.6 percent. The county’s labor force is about 19,200 with 18,700 employed and 500 unemployed. The report cites occupational patterns among applicants and wage ranges by skill level.
