Norwalk Council OKs 60 Percent Garbage Rate Hike
In a tense one hour session Norwalk City Council approved a contract that raises garbage rates by 60 percent. Power failures darkened City Hall during the meeting as the final roll call was taken in the dark. A council member called the session the craziest he had attended. The vote approved emergency passage of the measure despite a near adjournment over service continuity.
